Port Newark Container Terminal Expansion to Accommodate Growing Cargo Volume

Increased Capacity for Largest Container Terminal in Port of New York and New Jersey

Expansion Plan to Enhance Cargo Handling and Meet Future Demand

PORT NEWARK, N.J. – WEB Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT), the largest container terminal in the Port of New York and New Jersey, is undergoing a significant expansion to enhance its cargo handling capacity and meet the growing demand for containerized goods.

The expansion project will increase PNCT's footprint by 272 acres, bringing its total land area to over 500 acres. This expansion will allow the terminal to handle an additional 13 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually, bringing its total capacity to over 26 million TEUs.

To facilitate the increased cargo throughput, PNCT is also expanding its gate hours to 600 PM on weekdays, providing greater flexibility for shippers and carriers. The terminal offers a comprehensive range of cargo handling services, including container handling, dimensional cargo, and breakbulk cargo.

The expansion of PNCT is a strategic investment to strengthen the Port of New York and New Jersey's position as a leading global trade gateway. The increased capacity will help accommodate the growing volume of containerized goods from the United States and international markets.
