Multiple tractor-trailers involved in collisions

Several tractor trailers collided in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Gardiners Road in Kingston, Ontario, on Sunday, resulting in one fatality and 28 injuries. According to Kingston Police, the incident occurred around 1 a.m., involving between 30 and 40 vehicles.

One person killed, multiple injured in Sunday afternoon crash

In a separate incident on Sunday afternoon, one person was killed and approximately 20 others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 401 near Kingston. The crash involved several vehicles, including cars and tractor trailers.

As of Monday morning, the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 have reopened after being closed for several hours due to the earlier collision. However, the westbound lanes remain closed at Kingston West Road as crews work to clear the scene and investigate the cause of the accidents.

Ongoing investigation

The South Frontenac Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating both incidents. No further details have been released at this time.
