Royal Troon Golf Club's Portland course is a fine links layout that, unfortunately, is overshadowed by the club's championship course. Willie Fernie, the 1883 Open champion, designed most of Royal Troon's championship course and served as the club pro for over 50 years.

Portland Course

Royal Troon's second golf course, the Portland course, opened in 1895. It is more inland than the Open-hosting championship course. Located further inland, the Portland Course is one of Scotland's more underrated courses.
