Red Bull's Max Verstappen took pole position for the 2023 Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix qualifying at Suzuka, with a time of 1:29.304. Verstappen was joined on the front row by Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who was just 0.010 seconds behind, and Sergio Perez in the other Red Bull, who was a further 0.040 seconds back.
The top three were followed by the two Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, who were fourth and fifth respectively. Fernando Alonso was sixth for Alpine, ahead of Lando Norris in the McLaren, Esteban Ocon in the other Alpine, and Sebastian Vettel in the Aston Martin. Pierre Gasly rounded out the top ten for AlphaTauri.
The Japanese Grand Prix will be held on Sunday, 24 September 2023, at the Suzuka International Racing Course. Verstappen will be looking to extend his lead in the drivers' championship, while Red Bull will be hoping to secure the constructors' title.
